Barbara Lippard

 When And why did you become a SCORE Counselor?

   I have been a SCORE volunteer for 20 years. In addition to helping many clients, I also served as a member of the Board of Directors, Treasurer, Director of the San Francisco District, and am currently the Co·Chair of the East Bay Chapter.

 Business Background: 

  Investment Manager of Time, Inc. Venture Capital Group investing in high technology start up companies. Also at Time Inc., Vice President, Director of Corporate Development for SAMI, responsible for mergers and acquisitions. I founded Beechgrove Ventures, a consulting firm assisting small businesses with planning, funding, and financial management issues. Early in my career, I was a member of the Professional Staff of the Hudson Institute, a public policy research organization, working on economic, social and future issues in the United States and in less developed countries.

Educational Background:

  BA, Political Science, Queens College, Graduate Studies, Eastern European and Russian area studies, Georgetown University, Graduate Studies, MBA Program, New York University. 

Self-Description: 

  In addition to my volunteer work for SCORE, I look forward to our several yearly adventure expedition trips. At home, I raise orchids and enjoy my family, especially my grandchildren, who live nearby.
