When And why did you become a SCORE Counselor?
Having learned of Score while active in the Chamber of Commerce, upon my retirement in 2000, I saw becoming a member of Score as a way to continue being active in the business community. Especially,  for the opportunity to give something back to " small business " which had been good to me in my career.

Business Background:
My  career was in Commercial - Business Insurance & Risk Management working with many types of small business, and association with many Trade Associations. Over the 46 years of my career, all with the same company, I held various positions, including direct sales and sales management; 15 years as Regional Vice President with responsibility for the Company operations in the eight Western States.  Also, 3 years at Home Office with National responsibility.

Educational Background:
My college level training extended over 10 years, primarily in evening course work, and also in correspondence course work with a variety of colleges.  I have an AA Degree in Business Administration and have completed various specialty insurance related courses by correspondence, and in course work at Golden Gate College in San Francisco.

Self-Description:
My skill areas to share are those of a "generalist", with specific skills involving business insurance. I'm a good listener and enjoy helping people; people find me friendly.  My primary hobby is gardening; I continue to work to attain my long term goal, "to be able to afford to buy some land, so I'll have the excuse to buy a tractor". In my next life, I'll be a farmer.
