Introduction to QuickBooks & Basic Bookkeeping (Accounting Software Overview, Data Entry Processes, Bookkeeping Terms) 8 Hours

Learn the basics of this useful and flexible accounting & bookkeeping application. We will demonstrate setting-up, updating and maintaining customers, vendors & accounts, producing financial reports and efficient processes for entering your accounting data.  Learn the difference between cash and accrual accounting, accounting data flow processes and how to get timely and accurate bookkeeping information. Topics include financial vs. tax accounting, the importance of budgeting, the purpose of different financial reports, and cash flow management. Exercises include entering invoices, customer payments, deposits, bills, cash disbursements and other transactions. Additional exercises include setting-up budgets, credit card statement reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and more. This is a hands-on workshop with laptops and sample data provided at the class. Lunch and snacks will also be provided.

Who is the Presenting Authority?

The Hilliard Management Group presents these workshops. Theodore Hilliard, founder, has more than sixteen years in account management consulting. His experience includes financial manager for the Institute for Law & Policy Planning in Berkeley, California. He has fifteen years as the managing consultant for Hilliard Management Group. He has worked with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to conduct a series of small business bookkeeping and financial accounting workshops. His recent service with the Army in Iraq was instrumental in the revitalization and reorganization of the Kirkuk Business Center. Mr. Hilliard has a bachelor’s degree in Economics for the University of California at Berkeley and has taken extensive graduate courses in accounting and finance at UC Berkeley and Cal State Hayward.
