“UP” the movie

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

UP is a wonderful family movie staring animated characters created in the studios of PIXAR. The film is a delight in 3D. The movie was made by PIXAR and created in their studio right here in Emeryville. BTW, the film ends with the lead characters eating ice cream right outside Fenton’s Creamery on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland.

PIXAR is another fine example of a successful start-up located right here in the East Bay. You can gain guidance in starting your own business by visiting with a SCORE counselor. Counseling is free! Low cost workshops are available. To learn more about this service, log on to www.eastbayscore.org.

Medical Field Services

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

Interestingly, all the workshop participants at the recent Starting and Managing Your Small Business all day workshop in San Ramon had business service ideas relating to one degree or another with the medical field.

The marketing segment of this workshop zeroed in and stressed the importance of laying out the benefits to the potential clients of each service. This allows the owner/operator to quickly tell a client how her service will benefit the client. These benefits form the basis of any promotional activities and they aid in distinguishing the business from its competition.
